Adamawa State BPP Trains Procurement Officers on New OCDS Platform

The Adamawa State Bureau of Public Procurement has successfully conducted a capacity-building workshop for procurement officers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on the newly deployed Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS) platform.

The workshop was organized as part of the State Government’s commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public procurement processes. Participants were trained on how to use the OCDS platform for publishing, managing, and monitoring procurement data in line with global open contracting standards developed by the Open Contracting Data Standard.

During the sessions, procurement officers were taken through practical demonstrations covering procurement planning, tender publication, award disclosure, contract management, and reporting using the OCDS framework. Emphasis was placed on how open data improves public trust, enables oversight, and supports evidence-based decision-making.

Speaking at the workshop, officials of the Bureau noted that the adoption of the OCDS platform marks a major milestone in Adamawa State’s public financial management reforms. They reiterated the Bureau’s expectation that all MDAs will fully comply with the new system to ensure timely and accurate disclosure of procurement information.

Participants commended the initiative, describing the training as timely and impactful. Many expressed confidence that the platform will simplify procurement processes, reduce manual bottlenecks, and align the State’s procurement practices with international best practices.

The Adamawa State Bureau of Public Procurement reaffirmed its commitment to continuous training and stakeholder engagement to ensure the successful rollout and sustained use of the OCDS platform across the State.

I recommend the BPP for giving CSO the opportunity to be part of the training which will strengthen co-creation between the citizens and the government BP.
